Un nuovo studio condotto dal Consiglio nazionale delle ricerche – HCT-Agrifood Laboratory dell’Istituto per la bioeconomia (Cnr-Ibe) – in collaborazione con il Club alpino italiano (Cai) e con il Laboratorio di monitoraggio e modellistica ambientale per lo sviluppo sostenibile (Consorzio Lamma costituito tra Cnr e Regione Toscana), ha messo in evidenza che per beneficiare al massimo delle sostanze volatili aromatiche presenti nelle foreste gli orari migliori sono il primo mattino e le ore dopo mezzogiorno, in giornate soleggiate e con vento debole. Non solo: dallo studio è anche emerso che, quanto a benefici sulla salute, le foreste di conifere sono più efficienti di quelle costituite da solo faggio.
Gli aromi che fanno bene
Gli autori dello studio pubblicato sulla rivista International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, spiegano che diversi studi scientifici hanno dimostrato che dall’inalazione dei composti bioattivi presenti nelle foreste conseguono benefici per la salute umana a livello sia fisiologico che psicologico. Insomma: il profumo degli alberi non è solo buono, fa anche bene. Non tutti i siti e i percorsi forestali, né tutte le stagioni o momenti della giornata sono però uguali, anzi le concentrazioni di questi composti cambiano nel tempo e nello spazio molto più rapidamente di quanto ritenuto finora. E ora, grazie al loro studio, risultano in gran parte prevedibili, consentendo di scegliere le situazioni migliori (momento della giornata, stagione, condizioni meteo) per sfruttare al massimo i loro benefici.
Metodologia innovativa
Lorenzo Albanese, ricercatore del Cnr-Ibe e uno degli autori della ricerca, spiega che «occorreranno altri studi prima di poter costruire un modello generale per la selezione ottimale di siti, percorsi, stagioni e orari, dettagliando la composizione dei composti bioattivi presenti nell’aria forestale e correlandoli ai rispettivi effetti già verificati sulla salute delle persone. Il nostro studio offre, oltre che i primi risultati, una metodologia innovativa e ampiamente applicabile».
